As its founding statement, William F. Buckley, Jr. wrote that his flagship publication, National Review, “stands athwart history, yelling Stop, at a time when no other is inclined to do so, or to have much patience with those who so urge it.”

Generally speaking, this blog is intended to reference those authors and thinkers whose vocal efforts have largely gone unheeded and to provide a modicum of volume in feeble assistance to the ideas that things aren’t always getting better and that we’re not necessarily wiser than our predecessors.

Contrary to Robert Earl Keen‘s classic, the road doesn’t always go on forever and the party usually does end. This blog will endeavor to highlight some of the ideas that might assist us in avoiding the wreckage that we appear to be headed for, as well as point out some of the mile markers along the way.
